Harwood-Jones to head new securities services team

Standard Chartered has created a new global securities services business line within its transaction banking segment, and has appointed Margaret Harwood-Jones to lead it as global head of securities services.

The new business line is intended to bring together the bank’s sales, product, operations, and service and technology services, bringing them under common leadership and management.

Harwood-Jones has been with Standard Chartered since 2013, in the position of head of investors and intermediaries in transaction banking, a role she will retain responsibility for.

She has over 20 years of experience in the securities services industry. Before joining Standard Chartered, she was head of client segments, asset managers and alternative investments at BNP Paribas Securities Services.

Alex Manson, global head of transaction banking at Standard Chartered, said: “Securities services is a critical part of the proposition for our clients as they access some of the fastest growing markets in the world.”

“Clients look to us not only to deliver our capabilities but provide local knowledge and insight in and across our footprint. We are pleased to have Margaret Harwood-Jones, with her extensive knowledge of the industry and deep client relationships, lead this business as we continue to look to improve the way we serve our clients.”

Harwood-Jones added: “We have a unique network with which we serve our clients’ needs across Asia, Africa and the Middle East. In better aligning our structure across the bank, my colleagues and I hope to offer world-class service standards in everything we do across all our markets.”
